A new era is beginning for the Burgas Branch of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Bardarov taking the helm of the academic structure. Greeted with anticipation by the academic community, he is taking over the leadership of the first structure of Bulgaria's oldest university outside of the capital. His appointment marks an important moment in the development of the Burgas branch, which is building upon the solid foundations laid by his predecessors.
Extensive Experience and a Multifaceted Profile
Assoc. Prof. Bardarov steps into his new responsibilities with a rich and diverse background. He is an established lecturer in the Department of "Socio-Economic Geography" at the Faculty of Geology and Geography of Sofia University. His expertise is focused on areas key to the modern world, such as demography and ethno-religious conflicts, making him exceptionally well-suited for a leadership role in the developing branch. In addition to his scientific work, the associate professor is also known as a creative, an author of fiction books, and a winner of prestigious literary awards, which adds another dimension to his multifaceted profile. He is also an active participant in numerous educational and cultural initiatives, which highlights his commitment not only to academic but also to public circles.
Before taking the helm of the Burgas Branch, Assoc. Prof. Bardarov held important management positions at Sofia University for two terms. He was the head of the Department of "Socio-Economic Geography" and the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Geography. In addition to his administrative functions, he continues to lead the popular master's program "Regional Development and Management", which prepares professionals capable of tackling the challenges of modern regional planning.
The passing of the baton comes after the term of Prof. Dr. Teodor Sedlarski, who is one of the founders of the Branch and made a significant contribution to its establishment. As a local, Prof. Sedlarski worked hard to build a strong connection between the university and the Burgas community, managing to position the new academic institution as a significant factor in the life of the city.
