Starting November 7, the direct air route between Sofia and Yerevan will be officially restored. The information was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on its official website, citing data provided by the Embassy of Armenia.
The return of the flights is the result of the active efforts of Ambassador Nikola Nikolov, in close cooperation with Captain Yanko Ivanov, who represents the airline GullivAir. According to the data, the new airline creates significant prospects for direct contacts between the citizens of Bulgaria and Armenia, while simultaneously stimulating the development of bilateral cooperation in areas such as business, culture, and sports, as well as tourism and numerous other initiatives of mutual interest. Ambassador Nikolov extended his sincere gratitude to the Bulgarian state institutions for the understanding shown and the support provided, aimed at intensifying bilateral relations with Armenia.
The MFA website emphasizes that the restoration of the direct air connection Sofia–Yerevan–Sofia represents an important step toward deepening contacts between the two nations, opening new opportunities for enhancing and developing the bilateral dialogue. As context for the strengthened ties, it is recalled that at the beginning of July this year, the first direct seasonal charter flight connecting Burgas and Yerevan was successfully completed. This route was serviced once a week—every Tuesday until the end of August—with the aim of providing direct communication between the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and Yerevan during the peak summer season.
