Diplomatic expert Dmytro Kuleba presented an extremely precise assessment of the current geopolitical situation between Ukraine and Russia, outlining two key parameters for a potential end to the conflict.
The first critical indicator, according to him, is the intensity of Russian military operations – the number of attacks along the front line and in airspace. The more reduced this indicator is, the more realistic the chances of de-escalation.
The second indicator is related to the diplomatic will of Russian President Vladimir Putin for a direct meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Kuleba emphasizes that such a meeting cannot end without at least minimal agreements.
In the context of international relations, the expert recalls the presidential mandate of Donald Trump, when Putin was initially inclined towards negotiations, but subsequently the process was blocked.
Kuleba categorically states that Trump should have demonstrated a firmer position, instead of trying to appease the Russian president, who understands only the language of force.
Despite pessimistic attitudes, the diplomat allows for the possibility of a truce being reached by Christmas, although he does not believe in a complete cessation of military actions.
