The official diplomatic circles of Bulgaria and Kyrgyzstan have reached a significant agreement that substantially facilitates international official travel. The new document provides unique opportunities for seamless movement of employees with diplomatic status between the two countries.

On August 8, 2025, a treaty was signed that allows holders of diplomatic and service passports to stay in the respective country for up to 90 days without the need for a preliminary visa procedure. This decision covers not only direct employees but also members of their families.

The context of the agreement is related to the broader strategy of the two countries to expand their international relations. For Kyrgyzstan, this is another step towards global integration, as in 2025 the country has already implemented similar arrangements with Cyprus, Venezuela, and Japan.

From the Bulgarian side, the initiative fits into the national diplomatic policy of expanding international cooperation. On the eve of full accession to the Schengen area, Bulgaria is consistently working on creating more flexible conditions for official travel.

The main goal of the agreement is to create a more favorable environment for official visits, exchange of professional experience, and deepening of bilateral relations. The removal of visa restrictions is seen as a strategic tool for strengthening political, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries.

Experts define this agreement as another proof of the evolution of international diplomatic practices, which increasingly focus on facilitating communication and mobility of employees in the public sector.
