Duty crew of "Spartan" provided transport for medical teams for a donor situation

A duty crew from the 16th Air Base carried out air transport from Sofia to Varna and back for medical teams from the Military Medical Academy (MMA) and Alexandrovska University Hospital in connection with a donor situation in Silistra.

A duty crew of a “Spartan” aircraft from the 16th Air Base - Vrazhdebna provided air transport from Sofia to Varna and back today for medical teams from the Military Medical Academy and UMBAL “Aleksandrovska” during a donor situation for organ transplantation at MBAL - Silistra. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Defense.

The plane took off at 6:34 a.m. for Varna Airport and returned to Sofia at 4:56 p.m. 

The task of providing air transport for the medics was successfully completed. The commander of the crew was Major Darina Hristozova, the assistant commander was Major Nikolay Georgiev and the flight engineer was Captain Ognyan Lidanski.

Earlier, Dr. Dancho Danailov from the Silistra hospital, who was part of the team that performed the explantation, told BTA that the donor was a 69-year-old man who had suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage. His kidneys will give a chance for life, the doctor pointed out.
