The National Assembly included as an additional item on its agenda the second-reading debate on the bill for amendments to the Higher Education Act. The proposal was submitted by the Council of Ministers and put to a vote by the President of the Parliament, Mihaela Dotsova. The amendment was passed with 182 votes in favor, 13 against, and one abstention.
Today's plenary session began with the consideration of the election of a governor and deputy governor of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). The "Progressive Bulgaria" parliamentary group has nominated Dr. Vladimir Daskalov for governor, while the "We Continue the Change" group has put forward the candidacy of Stanimir Mihaylov. Only Zdravko Shushkov, also from "Progressive Bulgaria", has been proposed for the position of deputy governor.
The MPs' agenda includes a hearing for the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Ivan Shishkov. He will provide information on the current status of the contracts for the construction of the Hemus Motorway and the next steps regarding the implementation of the project.
Later today, lawmakers will also consider two bills at first reading for amendments to the Act on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria. They were submitted respectively by "Progressive Bulgaria" and "Democratic Bulgaria".
