Children, pupils, parents and residents of Burgas took part in a series of road safety events during European Mobility Week 2026 and in the days after it, Burgas council says.
This story follows our earlier report on European Mobility Week in Burgas, when the council launched a programme of educational games for children under the motto "Mobility for all generations".
Kindergartens and schools across the city ran road safety lessons with games, demonstrations and hands-on practice on traffic rules and on getting around on foot, by bike and by public transport.
Burgasbus held an open day where visitors saw how the city's public transport works and why it matters for easier travel around town.
The council also took part in the COP31 Bike Ride, a cycling event for active travel, to showcase the goals of the CLIMA-SUMP project for cleaner city transport. Partners and local groups ran other events on cycling, road safety and active living, backed by the council.
Through these events, Burgas council continues work on its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, aimed at cleaner, safer and easier ways to get around. The money comes from the project "Implementing municipal sustainable urban mobility plans for the transition to a climate-neutral and climate-resilient society" (LIFE22-IPC-BG-LIFE-SIP CLIMA-SUMP), co-funded by the EU's LIFE programme.
