A large-scale inter-agency investigation, initiated by the Consumer Protection Commission (CPC) and the National Revenue Agency (NRA), reveals significant price transformations in the domestic market. Experts have issued a total of 43 official orders that analyze current commercial practices in various trade formats.
The initial results of the study indicate complex factors affecting market dynamics. Commercial entities have presented detailed opinions that explain price increases through objective reasons – rising delivery costs, expiring expiration dates, and specific market challenges.
Institutional monitoring will continue with exceptional precision, simultaneously observing both final retail prices and the mechanisms of their formation at the primary sources. The strategy aims to guarantee maximum transparency and effective protection of consumer interests in conditions of economic instability.
In the context of these efforts, a specialized electronic portal is set to be introduced, which will provide direct access to current price information. The platform will allow citizens to easily and conveniently check market values of essential goods.
The large-scale initiative is being implemented through coordinated actions between multiple state institutions – Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Industry, Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Communications Regulation Commission, Competition Protection Commission, and National Revenue Agency. The main goal of the inter-agency team is to prevent unfair trade practices and avoid unjustified financial burden on Bulgarian households.
