Denmark takes over the EU presidency with a vision for transformation

The Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a meeting dedicated to the new European presidency, emphasizing the key priorities of Denmark and the upcoming economic challenges.

At an official meeting at the headquarters of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the strategic guidelines of the Danish EU Presidency for the second half of 2025 were discussed. The event consolidated expert analyses from leading national economic and political representatives.

H.E. Fleming Stender, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark, presented the official motto of the presidency - "Strong Europe in a Changing World". The emphasis was placed on two main directions: guaranteeing European security and achieving competitiveness through green transformation.

BCCI Vice-President Dr. Vasil Todorov emphasized the importance of Bulgaria's Eurozone membership as a strategic moment for the national economy. According to him, this process will generate multiple positive effects - attracting investments, improving credit rating, and stimulating key economic sectors.

Prof. Ingrid Shikova, Chair of the Euroclub at BCCI, analyzed the upcoming EU Multiannual Financial Framework. She highlighted three critical aspects: determining the budget size, focusing on competitiveness, and achieving a balance between innovation and cohesion policy.

Anna Yanishevska-Fraczek, Deputy Head of the Polish Embassy, presented the results of the Polish presidency, emphasizing achievements in international partnerships and expanding European influence.

Ambassador Stender outlined the specific priorities of the Danish presidency, including: guaranteeing European security, supporting Ukraine, countering illegal migration, protecting democratic values, and the rule of law.

In the economic part of the program, the Danish presidency will focus on simplifying trade processes, expanding trade agreements, strengthening the single market, and developing accessible renewable energy.

Petar Ganev from the Institute for Market Economics analyzed the challenges of introducing the euro in Bulgaria. He emphasized the need for a smooth transition and creating conditions for improving economic indicators.

Oleg Temnikov from the "Transparency without Borders" organization presented the new European directive to combat corruption, outlining its strengths and weaknesses. BCCI expressed reservations about the proposal to criminalize activities of legal entities.

The meeting reinforced the impression of Denmark's strategic role as president, a country ranked among world leaders in quality of life and innovation.
