Outgoing Interior Minister Daniel Mitov stated in the program “Sunday 150” on BNR that Bulgaria should be part of an American peace initiative. He commented on the country's joining the Council for Peace under the patronage of the United States, emphasizing the importance of the alliance with the United States.
Mitov noted that the decision was made legitimately, with a mandate from the Council of Ministers, and is subject to ratification by the Parliament. According to him, it is better to be “at the table than part of the menu” in such geopolitical initiatives.
Mitov also commented on Rumen Radev's political project, stating that it is too early for comments, as it is not clear what the project will be. He also touched on the topic of the closure of the Commission for Countering Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Assets (KPCONPI) and indicated the readiness of the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) to take over its functions.
Regarding the work of the Ministry of Interior, Mitov reported an increase in the seizure of cocaine, cannabis, and fentanyl, a decrease in migration pressure, and improvements in road safety.
