Heavy rain in Burgas region has been raised from an orange to a red code, and Tsarevo council will use the BG-ALERT early warning system. The council is urging people to stay away from rivers and other bodies of water.
Earlier today, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology declared a red code for Tsarevo, Primorsko and Malko Tarnovo because of heavy rain and strong north winds at sea.

The villages of Velika and Fazanovo got the most rain, more than 120 litres per square metre overnight. Interior Ministry and council teams watched the most at-risk spots until morning. In Tsarevo, all roads were open, and water in the rivers and reservoirs drained away without problems.
The Environment Ministry warned that evacuations may be needed and that power, water and communications may be cut.
Primorsko council teams are on standby, and river beds and problem spots were cleared beforehand. The council advises people not to travel unless they must and to avoid places that may be dangerous.
Burgas regional governor Diko Dikov said the Cherna river has also taken in rainwater. He said money for correcting its river bed has not yet been secured.
