Tragic road toll
Over the past 24 hours, Bulgarian roads have once again been marked by tragedy. According to the Ministry of the Interior, one person has lost their life and another 24 have been injured in serious traffic accidents within the last 24 hours.
A total of 22 accidents resulting in injuries or fatalities have been registered over the past day.
Statistics for the month and the year
Data from the beginning of the month shows an alarming trend – 49 people have died and 817 have been injured in crashes. Even more concerning is the overall tally since the beginning of 2026:
- Fatalities: 220 people
- Injured: 3,699 people
A comparative analysis with the previous year, 2025, indicates an increase in mortality. During the same period in 2026, there are 36 more fatalities, which raises questions regarding road safety and traffic control.
