At a ceremonial session of the Municipal Council in Tsarevo, held on the occasion of St. Nicholas Day and the city's holiday, it was decided that the central square would be named "Stefan Danailov” in recognition of the contribution of the beloved Bulgarian actor and his long-standing connection with the region, the municipality announced.
At the meeting, the new holders of the title "Honorary Citizen of Tsarevo" for 2024 were also honored. The awards were received by 12 individuals with contributions to the development of the local community in the fields of culture, education, sports and healthcare. Among the awardees are heads of cultural institutions, doctors, teachers, sports figures and representatives of the arts.
Stanka Dimova, Maria Chalakova, Dr. Petya Stoyanova, Dr. Rumyana Georgieva, Totka Dimitrova, Nina Dimitrova, Diko Kiryakov, Zlatka Badjeva, Georgi Kostadinov, Elena Stoyanova, Yordanka Hristova and Dr. Teodor Baykushev were awarded.
Today Tsarevo celebrates St. Nicholas Day with a festive program. The day began with liturgies in the churches "St. Uspenie Bogorodichno" and "St. Tsar Boris-Mihail" followed by the traditional distribution of fish stew for health. In the Municipal Historical Museum, the exhibition "Faith" with the children's workshop "Chekrache" was opened. The St. Nicholas Bazaar and the culinary competition began at the Michurin Fishing Port.
