After a tough competition and impressive achievements, the teachers from Burgas returned from the national Spartakiad with their heads held high and a won team second place. As a sign of recognition for their success, Mayor Dimitar Nikolov personally congratulated the participants of the Teachers' Spartakiad, organized by the Union of Bulgarian Teachers (SBT).
Achievements and participants
The event, which took place from August 26 to 31 in the Albena resort complex, gathered 30 teams with over 450 competitors in one place. For several days, teachers from all over the country measured their strengths in 12 different sports, showing that besides being teachers, they are also athletes with determination and a competitive spirit.
Mayor Nikolov expressed his gratitude to the Burgas participants for their achievements at the 21st Teachers' Spartakiad. He emphasized that they are "an extremely good example for their students and all adolescents", demonstrating not only academic knowledge but also a will to win and a sporting spirit.
With the financial support of the Municipality of Burgas, SBT - Burgas sent a delegation of 19 athletes to the competition, who competed in 8 disciplines. Their efforts were rewarded with a second place in the overall ranking, with the Burgas team coming right after Plovdiv. It is especially impressive that it was the Burgas team that won the most first places in the individual and team disciplines.
Medals and achieved results
- The swimming teams - both men's and women's, as well as the relay team, became true champions, bringing golden medals for Burgas.
- The men's beach volleyball team also distinguished themselves with a first place.
- The women's darts team and the mixed petanque team won silver medals.
- The bronze medals went to the women's streetball and sports backgammon teams.
- The "Fast Together" relay teams and the women's beach volleyball team took fifth place.
- The women's petanque team ranked sixth, completing the overall excellent performance of the Burgas delegation.
