Effective this week, the municipal carrier Burgasbus EOOD is discontinuing bus line 17A. The decision, which affects the residents of two of the city's main neighborhoods, was announced in an official statement from the company. This step comes as a result of the onset of the autumn-winter season, when the demand for such transport services traditionally decreases.
Summer line 17A connected Meden Rudnik and Kraimorie
Line 17A, known as the city's "summer line", was created to ease weekend travel. It provided a direct connection between the large residential complex "Meden Rudnik" and the Kraimorie neighborhood. The route was extremely popular during the warm months as it connected Burgas' largest residential area with one of the most visited beaches in the region.
The line's operation was limited to weekends, when thousands of residents of Burgas and visitors to the city headed to the coastal areas.
The discontinuation of the service is not surprising, as it happens at the end of the active tourist season, but it nevertheless leaves a gap in the city's transport scheme that will be felt by residents who rely on this route for their summer trips and vacations. Burgasbus did not specify if and when the line will be restored during the next summer season, leaving the question open for future decisions.
