During the past 24 hours, the employees of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Burgas have reported a busy day. Two thefts were registered, which underlines the need for increased security measures in the region. In addition, the authorities responded to one fire and one traffic accident. The total number of initiated fast-track proceedings reached four, and the crimes discovered for the period increased to 11.

 

I. CRIMES DISCLOSED:

On 07.10.t.g. around 11:10 a.m., employees of the Sozopol Police Department conducted a search of a private residence on "First of May" street in Sozopol. The apartment, inhabited by a 22-year-old resident of Sozopol, became the focus of attention after a report. During the operation, about 20 grams of dry green leaf mass, identified as marijuana, were found and seized. A fast-track proceeding was immediately initiated at the scene.

The next day, 08.10.t.g., around 01:30 a.m., teams from the Second Police Department - Burgas conducted a check on a 20-year-old resident of Burgas on "Stefan Stambolov" street, near the "Maritsa" store. During the check, material evidence was found and seized, which is to be analyzed. A wrap with a white crystalline substance was found, which is believed to be amphetamine, weighing about 1 gram, as well as a bag with a brown-green leafy mass (marijuana) weighing about 7 grams. A fast-track proceeding has been initiated in the case.

 

II. TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS:

On 07.10.t.g. around 8:17 p.m. at the intersection of "Yanko Komitov" street and the street leading to the "Praktiker" store in the residential area of "Slaveykov", a traffic accident occurred. A "Opel" car with a Burgas registration, driven by a 33-year-old resident of Burgas, crashed into another "Opel" with the same registration, driven by a 60-year-old resident of Burgas. The second car stopped suddenly to let pedestrians cross at a pedestrian crossing.

Emergency medical teams arrived at the scene. The driver of the second car and his companion were slightly injured in the traffic accident and were examined at UMBAL - Burgas. They were released for home treatment with bruises on their body, but without danger to life.

The authorities are taking standard procedures after the incident, including checking for alcohol and narcotic substances on both drivers. The test of the 33-year-old resident of Burgas for narcotic substances proved positive for the use of amphetamine and methamphetamine. A blood sample was taken for chemical analysis. The driver was detained for up to 24 hours. A fast-track proceeding has been initiated in the case. The result of the blood test is of critical importance for the further development of the case and the possible filing of charges.

 

III. FIRE:

On 08.10.t.g. around 12:30 a.m. a report was received at the Ruen Police Department about a fire in an uninhabited one-story house in the village of Lyulyakovo, Ruen municipality. The fire, which occurred on "Bojur" street, destroyed the roof structure of the house, as well as the old household items inside. The owner of the property is a 64-year-old man from the same village.

One fire fighting team from RSPBZN - Aytos arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the flames. After an initial inspection, no evidence of arson was found. The exact value of the damage is being clarified. The investigation is ongoing by employees of the Ruen Police Department, who are working to clarify the causes of the fire and the extent of the damage.
