Burgas is preparing to celebrate its most maritime holiday and to kick off the Christmas festivities, which will continue until the New Year arrives. The city invites not only its residents, but also all friends of the sea to join the celebration on December 6th.

On this day, Burgas will live in the rhythm of St. Nicholas Day, transforming into a stage for numerous sports, official, cultural and musical events, located in emblematic places in the city. Details about the exact times and locations of the events will be revealed gradually in the following days, so that each of them can receive the attention it deserves.

The holiday begins with a sporting spirit. Swimmer Tzanko Tzankov, record holder in cold waters, and the legendary gymnast, Olympic medalist Yordan Yovchev, will participate in the initiative. Then Burgas will turn into one big musical stage. Among the performers are the winners of "Your Face Sounds Familiar" Vlado Mihailov and Vlado Zombori, the Burgas singing treasure Rafi Bohosyan, as well as Stefan Valdobrev and "The Usual Suspects", who will take care of the culmination of the holiday. The young talents of Burgas will also join them, as the stage will be shared between established names and the new generation of Burgas artists.

From the cinema and the digital world, actor Kitodar Todorov and Slavi The Clasher are joining St. Nicholas Day in Burgas, who will also have their meetings with the audience. Details of the format of these events will be revealed soon.

Traditionally, all name-day celebrants will have the opportunity to take the "Golden photo" with Mayor Dimitar Nikolov on the square in front of Burgas Municipality.

In the festive evening, the annual awards "Burgas of the Year" and "Artist of the Year" will be presented – a sign of recognition to the contemporary artists and active personalities of the city. As part of the official part, the Municipal Council of Burgas will award the title "Honorary Citizen of Burgas" to the actor and television host Dimitar Rachkov, the graphic artist and Burgas creator Dimo Koliibarov and the great theater and film actor Rusi Chanev. Posthumously, the writer and satirist Alek Popov and Professor of Sound Engineering Ivo Keremidchiev will be awarded honorary citizenship. Burgas will also bow before the memory of the donor Alexander Georgiev – Kodjakafaliyata, as well as to the fallen sailors and fishermen – part of the tradition, which reminds us that St. Nicholas Day is a day of gratitude, memory and respect to the people who have connected their lives with the sea and with the city.

I imagine the "Trio" square, where the big concert for St. Nicholas Day will take place, in front of the eyes of many gathered people. It is there that the lighting of the Christmas tree will also take place, which will mark the beginning of the Christmas and New Year period.

Expect more details about the program in the coming days.
