The prestigious film forum will be held between July 12 and 18, 2025, expecting to present an extremely diverse and large-scale selection of international titles. Its official presentation was made during a special press conference, where Deputy Mayor Diana Savateva emphasized the cultural significance of the event.
During the tenth edition, the organizers have prepared three main festival stages that will present a rich palette of cinematographic works. The jury will be composed of established international artists, including directors and researchers from Bulgaria, Turkey, Finland, and other countries.
The full-length program includes five impressive films from different countries that explore deep human themes such as identity, trauma, and migration. Among the highlights are works from Hungary, Canada, Slovakia, France, and Austria, which promise strong directorial messages.
Special attention will be given to the BIFF TUNES music selection, which will present documentaries related to musical art. Among them is the anticipated concert film about the band Blur, directed by Toby L.
The festival's program focus this year is directed towards debut directorial works from Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, and Turkey. Additional attractions include the AQUANIMA animation selection, curated by Teodor Ushev, and the experimental platform "PLANKTON".
One of the most intriguing parts of the forum is the retrospective dedicated to director Wong Kar Wai. Three of his iconic films will be shown in a restored 4K version, presenting his unique visual style.
The accompanying program includes the presentation of a specialized book about Bulgarian cinema, sound design workshops with international experts, and masterclasses with established film composers.
The event is realized thanks to the financial support of Burgas Municipality, the National Film Center, and the European Union. Partners include the Hungarian Cultural Institute, embassies, and numerous Bulgarian and international organizations.
Deputy Mayor Savateva emphasized that the festival is part of the larger campaign for Burgas to be chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2032, which further enhances its significance.
