The possibilities for deepening educational dialogue, cultural and tourist exchange, as well as the development of logistical links and dynamic economic relations between Burgas and Vietnam were the focus of a meeting held today in Burgas Municipality. The meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of constructive dialogue, marked the beginning of a potentially new partnership, which could lead to significant development for both cities.
Deputy Mayor for "Strategic Development, Ecology, Digitalization and Adaptation to Climate Change" Vesna Baltina welcomed H.E. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Ambassador of Vietnam to Bulgaria. The meeting, which took place in an official setting, emphasized the importance of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During the conversation, the focus was placed on the wide range of areas in which Burgas is open to active cooperation with Vietnam. Education, logistics, infrastructure, port and maritime links, innovation, ecology and waste management, including the fields of artificial intelligence, natural sciences and medicine, were identified as key areas for future cooperation.
"We are especially pleased that Burgas is looking towards a partnership with Vietnam on so many levels. The Bulgarian-Vietnamese business forum held today in Burgas is an important step towards more intense economic relations," Her Excellency emphasized and expressed hope for closer cooperation with Vietnamese cities in the near future. The desire to strengthen economic ties was clearly demonstrated. The accompanying business forum underlines the commitment of both countries to concrete results.
Burgas' strategic goals for retaining young people in the city were a focus of the discussion. This included the creation of new jobs, the attraction of investors and the development of high-tech industries. The proposal to retain young people reflects the city's aspiration for sustainable development and ensuring the future.
Deputy Mayor Baltina specifically emphasized the opportunities for student exchanges and the training of young people from Vietnam in the universities of Burgas, as well as the implementation of joint educational programs. The focus on education shows Burgas' desire to invest in the future through the development of human capital.
The Ambassador informed that the city of Hai Phong, a traditional maritime center in Northern Vietnam, is developing as a major industrial hub. This opens up new opportunities for partnerships with Burgas, further expanding the scope of potential cooperation.
The topic of facilitated travel was also discussed - visa-free stay of up to 35 days, which would stimulate tourism, tour operator programs and charter flights. This measure has the potential to strengthen the ties between the two cities, by increasing the number of tourists and improving cultural exchange.
The two sides united around the idea of organizing "Days of Vietnam" in Burgas - with culinary events, cultural events and initiatives to promote Vietnamese traditions and arts. This initiative aims to enrich the cultural life of Burgas and introduce residents to the unique cultural heritage of Vietnam.
The meeting was also attended by Todor Demirkov, Chairman of the BTPP, and Ivelina Strateva, Director "Economics and Business Activities" at Burgas Municipality.
