Customs officers in Varna have found nearly 46,000 smuggled items in a container from China at the port of Varna West.
The container came by ship and was headed for Bulgaria. Its papers listed 48 packages of car wash equipment. A risk analysis flagged it, so officers checked it more closely.
Besides the declared equipment, they found 45,766 taps, pumps, brushes, tools and repair kits that were not in the papers. The container also held a machine that swaps banknotes and coins for tokens, 25,000 tokens and 20,000 plastic discount cards.
Officers have seized the undeclared goods. Under the Customs Act, they will draw up a report of an administrative offence.
