The Bulgarian volleyball players demonstrated exceptional psychological resilience and skill, decisively defeating the Thai national team with a 3:0 result in a crucial match from Group "D" of the World Championship in Surabaya, Indonesia.
Coach Dragan Nesic led the team to a remarkable victory with set scores of 25:20, 26:24, and 25:23, with the team showing its strongest performance so far in the tournament. The critical match was of exceptional importance, as a loss could have sent the Bulgarian team to compete for positions between 17th and 24th place.
The key to success lay in strong serving and extremely effective blocking play. The second set was particularly impressive, where the Bulgarian team turned around a 21:24 deficit and dramatically won 26:24. In the third set, the team again demonstrated character, overcoming a 13:18 deficit thanks to an important ace by Boyana Boyanova.
Individual performances were remarkable - Iva Dudova was the top scorer with 18 points, captain Victoria Koeva added 12 points, while Victoria Dimitrova and Elena Kolarova scored 11 points each. For the Thai team, Seetaloed Warisara scored 19 points.
With this victory, Bulgaria finished third in the group with 7 points (two wins and three losses), ahead of Thailand, which remained fourth with 6 points. In the next phase of the tournament, the Bulgarian national team will face the USA team in the round of 16.
