The postal network of Bulgaria is taking large-scale actions to ensure currency conversion with the upcoming introduction of the euro. In over 2,230 "Bulgarian Posts" offices, a comprehensive plan for seamless and secure money exchange will be implemented.

A key aspect of the preparatory process is the training of employees who will acquire specialized skills for recognizing counterfeit banknotes in both leva and euros. Experts will undergo a detailed briefing on different denominations and emission characteristics.

According to Deputy Director Stanimir Belinov, the main goal is to prevent potential fraudulent actions. "The process includes system updates and communication with the Ministry of Interior at critical points," he commented. In parallel with the training, the installation of specialized equipment - counting machines and video surveillance - is planned.

The conditions for currency conversion are differentiated: amounts up to 1,000 leva will be exchanged instantly, while amounts above this threshold - with a request for 3-5 working days. In the network of 954 stations, requests for amounts up to 10,000 leva will be accepted.

Kostadin Hristov from the Development Center emphasizes the risk of increased attempts at counterfeiting, especially at the end of the year. Experts are focused on detailed training for recognizing various types of currency forgeries.

The first six months of euro introduction will have completely free exchange, which further facilitates citizens in currency conversion.
