The second consecutive day of the Swimming World Championship in Singapore brought challenges for the Bulgarian athletes. Petar Mitsin, who yesterday achieved seventh place in the 400-meter freestyle final, today registered 26th position in the 200-meter distance with a time of 1:47.88 minutes, which did not allow him to advance to the semifinals.
The fastest result in the series was achieved by Romanian Olympic champion David Popovich with an impressive 1:45.43 minutes. Despite his failure in the 200-meter freestyle, Mitsin will have the opportunity to compete in the 200-meter butterfly event.
In the women's category, Gabriela Georgieva started her participation with 24th time in 100 meters backstroke, achieving a result of 1:01.42 minutes. She has another competition in the 200 meters backstroke, where she placed sixth in the previous World Championship in Doha.
In the 100 meters breaststroke category, debutante Teya Nikolova finished in 33rd position with a time of 1:08.59 minutes, which added to the challenges facing the Bulgarian team.
