A prestigious scientific forum shook the capital at the beginning of August, when the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at BAS hosted the International Conference IMSAC. The event, held between August 7 and 9, united researchers from more than six countries, including the USA, Canada, Israel, and Australia.
The conference provided a unique platform for academic dialogue, going beyond traditional scientific discussions. Besides sharing theoretical discoveries, the forum emphasized the challenges facing young Bulgarian scientists abroad – scientific mobility, professional integration, and opportunities for international cooperation.
The thematic scope of the event was extremely wide – from bioinformatics to complex physical algorithms. Special attention was paid to the role of Bulgarian scientific networks in developing joint international projects.
The roundtables attracted attention with a focus on the future of young talents. Discussions covered topics such as internship programs, doctoral opportunities, and sharing successful professional practices. Among the participants were distinguished professors from leading universities in the USA, United Kingdom, Germany, and Israel.
"Our goal is to strengthen the Bulgarian scientific identity and create a bridge between different generations of researchers," shared Prof. Dr. Ivan Gerov, coordinator of the conference. His words emphasized the deep meaning of the event – not just an academic forum, but a message of national pride and global recognition.
Among the expected results are deepening scientific collaborations, expanding research exchange, and strengthening the presence of Bulgarian mathematicians in international projects. The inclusion of young talents is viewed as a strategic investment in the future of Bulgarian science and education.
The IMSAC Conference confirmed its reputation as a significant event that not only presents scientific achievements but also inspires the next generation of researchers to continue developing mathematical science.
