The President of the Bulgarian Athletics Federation, Georgi Pavlov, presented an ambitious plan for material incentives for national athletes under 20 years old who will participate in the upcoming European Championship in Finland.

According to the officially announced conditions, athletes and their coaches will receive differentiated monetary rewards depending on their achieved ranking. The highest premium of 5000 leva is provided for gold medal winners, while silver medalists will be rewarded with 3000 leva.

Bronze awards are stimulated with 2000 leva, and those ranked up to eighth place will receive between 600 and 1000 leva. Pavlov emphasized that the goal is to create a sustainable mechanism for financial encouragement of young talents.

"My vision is to turn these premiums into a tradition," the leader stated. He announced his intention to propose to the Management Board the preparation of an official financing regulation that would be secured by sponsorship funds.

The national team that will participate in the championship in Tampere from August 7 to 10 consists of 16 athletes who will have the opportunity to benefit from the new financial scheme.
