Bulgarian young archers recorded an impressive performance during the second round of the European Youth Cup, held in the Slovenian city of Čatež. Among the most outstanding athletes, Raya Ivanova stood out, who convincingly won second place in the overall ranking for cadets under 18 years old in the recurve discipline.
In the extremely competitive competition, Ivanova demonstrated exceptional precision, collecting a total of 1298 points after the two rounds of the event. Her achievement secured her a prestigious second place among a total of 84 athletes. The German representative Frida Janke took first place, while the third position went to the Italian Matilde Manini.
The Bulgarian Archery Federation officially confirmed that Raya Ivanova improved four national records - both in individual and team rankings for the under-18 age group. The national team achieved a remarkable eighth place among a total of 38 participating countries, with the teams of Italy and Germany taking the first two positions.
In the barebow category for girls under 21, Dara-Maria Valova also performed exceptionally strongly. Her silver medal from the first round in Sofia guaranteed her third place in the final ranking, despite not participating in the second round of the competition.
Maxim Shchykovskyi remained in fourth place among the youth, narrowly missing third place. Although he took second place in the Bulgarian round, this was not enough for a higher ranking.
Upcoming events include the Open National Championship in Plovdiv with a record of over 200 participants, which will be held next weekend. On August 16, the World Youth Championship will also start in the Canadian city of Winnipeg, where Bulgaria will be represented by four young talents.
Two weeks after the youth championship, the World Championship for men and women will be held, featuring European champion Ivan Banchev, Stanislav Stamov, Dobromira Danailova, and Raya Ivanova.
