The Ministry of Economy and Industry reports an impressive growth of foreign direct investments, reaching nearly 1.4 billion euros in the first five months of the year. This economic indicator marks a remarkable 47% growth compared to the previous period, which is an extremely positive signal in the context of global economic uncertainty.

During the Annual Meeting of Economic Advisors, Minister Petar Dilov emphasized the strategic role of Trade and Economic Affairs Offices (TEAO) in expanding the international presence of Bulgarian businesses. The main focus was placed on proactively identifying new market opportunities and building stable international partnerships.

Among the key achievements, the minister highlighted Bulgaria's membership in the Schengen Area and the upcoming accession to the Eurozone in January 2026. These processes are expected to significantly improve the investment climate, credit rating, and foreign trade exchange of the country.

Dilov emphasized the upcoming membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which will guarantee higher predictability and compliance with international business standards. An additional priority is expanding market presence beyond the European Union.

Special focus was placed on attracting investments in innovative sectors with high added value. The ministry identified information technologies, fintech, robotics, biotechnologies, and sustainable production as strategic directions. "These areas form the backbone of the modern economy," Dilov emphasized.

Trade representatives received specific guidelines for expanding economic influence, with an emphasis on building long-term international partnerships. Particular attention was paid to positioning Bulgaria as an attractive year-round tourist destination.

The meeting, held in a hybrid format, included the participation of Deputy Minister Doncho Barbalov and trade representatives from various countries. The main message was clear – Bulgaria continues to strengthen its position as a stable and reliable international economic partner.

The ministry expects to continue the trend of increasing foreign direct investments and expanding its economic presence in international markets through targeted actions and strategic planning.
