The prestigious cinematographic award "Victoria" from the San Antonio Film Festival was awarded to the Bulgarian documentary film "Silent Observers" by director Elitsa Petkova. The international jury described the work as a remarkable narrative that masterfully presents social reality from an unconventional perspective.
The film, created as a co-production between Bulgaria and Germany, traces the depopulation of a mountain village through the eyes of local animals. Cinematographers define it as an emotionally charged and intellectually provocative work that transforms animals into symbolic storytellers of human culture.
In addition to its top position at the American festival, "Silent Observers" has already been selected for prestigious international platforms such as Beldocs in Sydney and SXSW in London. The Bulgarian premiere of the film during Sofia Film Fest 2025 was met with exceptional interest from the local audience.
