National representatives Alex Grozdanov and Georgi Spasov concluded their participation without medals at the World Wrestling Championship for youth under 17 years old, held in the Greek capital Athens.
In extremely competitive repechage matches in the category up to 51 kilograms freestyle, Spasov suffered a quick and decisive defeat. The Turkish competitor Bugra Kavak demonstrated complete technical superiority, managing to eliminate the Bulgarian wrestler in an incredibly short period of only 48 seconds.
A similar scenario accompanied Grozdanov's performance in the 71 kilograms freestyle category. The young Bulgarian competitor yielded in his crucial match against Ali Esenov from Turkmenistan, which definitively ended his medal ambitions.
The final result of the championship in both categories confirmed the dominance of American wrestlers, who won the championship titles. For the Bulgarian delegation, this was another challenge demonstrating the need for additional work and preparation of young talents.
The performance of Grozdanov and Spasov shows that international competitions require exceptional preparation, concentration, and technical mastery, qualities that in this case were lacking for the Bulgarian wrestlers.
