On August 15, the temple in Chicago welcomes believers for the Assumption of Mary holiday with an invitation to pray and light a candle, and volunteer repair activities are planned for the weekend.

Festive Day – Open for Spiritual Closeness

Today, August 15, on the occasion of the Assumption of Mary, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church «St. Ivan Rilski» in Chicago will be open all day for all believers. The Church Board calls on everyone who wishes to light a candle, offer a prayer and honor the Mother of God, protector and comforter of Christians.

«Let this holiday be another opportunity to strengthen our faith and share spiritual closeness with one another» they invite from the temple.

Volunteer Initiatives – Creating Comfort for the Community

On Saturday and Sunday – August 16 and 17 between 9:00 and 16:00, improvement and repair activities will continue in the church and yard. Every weekend this month, volunteer brigades are organized for cleaning, painting, repairing and renovating the spiritual home.

Spiritual Strength and Unity

The Assumption of Mary holiday is an occasion for prayer, gratitude and rallying Bulgarians beyond the ocean. In the heart of Chicago, the St. Ivan Rilski church remains a place of support, hope and voluntary efforts in the name of the common good and spiritual unity.
