The Minister of Culture Marian Bachev presented key results to the government from the international UNESCO session, held between July 6 and 16, 2025. During the forum, a record 250 files related to cultural heritage from various countries were reviewed.
During the official conversations with the organization's leadership, including Director-General Audrey Azoulay, the Bulgarian delegation managed to highlight several significant cultural events. Among the presented materials were the exhibition "Waves of the Black Sea through the Centuries", the documentary film "Treasures of Bulgarians", and the Bistrishki Babi folklore ensemble.
One of the most important achievements is the expected recognition of the Underwater Archaeology Center in Sozopol as a Category 2 institution under UNESCO. This status will provide additional opportunities for international cooperation and research in the field of marine archaeology.
In parallel, Minister Bachev assured that the city of Nessebar will maintain its World Cultural Heritage status for at least the next two years. This confirms Bulgaria's stable position in international cultural circles and its contribution to preserving historical heritage.
The Bulgarian delegation's presentation is considered extremely successful, with significant diplomatic and expert agreements achieved in the fields of culture and archaeology.
