Today, Bulgaria strongly condemned the unprecedented Russian aggression against Estonia. The violation of Estonian airspace by three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets, lasting 12 minutes, has been categorically confirmed by Estonian authorities and reported by world agencies such as Reuters.

This is another demonstration of Moscow"s reckless and destabilizing policy aimed at NATO"s European allies on the Alliance"s eastern flank.

Official Position of Bulgaria

In an official publication on the social network "X", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria defined the incident as "a reckless provocation". The text emphasizes that this pattern of actions, characterized by a gross disregard for international law and the sovereignty of a sovereign NATO member state, cannot continue. The MFA unequivocally stated that international peace and security are in danger and should not be compromised by such aggressive actions.

The ministry stressed its unwavering support for Estonia and Bulgaria"s firm stance in defending Euro-Atlantic security. "We stand firmly by our ally Estonia and remain committed to the defense of Euro-Atlantic security", the statement says.

The statement is categorical and leaves no room for doubt regarding Bulgaria_q_s principled position on such violations of international law and its willingness to take joint action with European partners to prevent such actions in the future. Inaction in the face of such provocations would undermine the very foundations of international security and encourage further escalation.

Undoubtedly, this incident is another signal of the need for intensified joint work within NATO to ensure the security of all allies. The situation is serious and requires a decisive and united response from the international community. Events are unfolding against the backdrop of continued tension in the region and increased military activity.
