The Bulgarian taste on the world stage
On September 20, 2026, the eyes of culinary fans will be fixed on La Marina de València. The grand final of the World Paella Day Cup will take place there, where twelve finalists from around the world will compete in preparing the iconic Spanish dish.
Bulgaria is proud to be represented by Nikolay Genchev, who won the national qualifier in Burgas and is our third representative in this prestigious competition.
The road to the final
The finalists have gone through hotly contested qualifiers in 12 countries, including Bulgaria, Japan, Mexico, and France. Before the big clash, the chefs will undergo an intensive cultural program, including a visit to the Albufera Natural Park – the cradle of rice production and the traditions associated with authentic paella.
