Restoring the leading role of the Bulgarian left in political life is a key priority for the ruling party. This was categorically stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the BSP Atanas Zafirov during a national conference in Stara Zagora, dedicated to coalition governance.
In his presentation, Zafirov emphasized the importance of social policy as the main vector in the current governance. According to him, Bulgarian citizens need adequate social protection, which should be guaranteed through targeted legislative initiatives.
Analyzing the past parliamentary session, the politician described the opposition as fragmented and lacking a substantial alternative. Despite the challenges, the ruling majority managed to implement a significant part of its legislative program during the first six months.
"It is not so much the quantity, but the quality of the work done that is of decisive importance," Zafirov commented. He emphasized that despite the complex governance format, key draft laws successfully passed through the plenary hall.
Sociological surveys and the moods among coalition partners show predominantly positive attitudes. Zafirov expressed confidence that by maintaining the current working pace, the BSP will successfully emerge from the governance mandate.
During the conference, detailed reports were presented by ministers, the parliamentary group, and the Chairman of the National Assembly. The goal was to communicate the achievements to a wider circle of Bulgarian citizens.
Looking ahead, the BSP leadership set ambitious goals for the upcoming elections. The traditional gathering at Buzludzha Peak will be a symbolic message that the left coalition not only preserves its historical memory but also builds the future.
"Buzludzha is not just a memory for us, but a perspective," Zafirov was categorical. He expressed confidence that the coalition has the potential to build and expand its political influence.
The National Conference reinforced the BSP's determination to continue being a significant political factor that defends the interests of Bulgarian citizens through socially responsible governance.
