A nighttime chase in Burgas ended with an arrest and the seizure of a significant amount of narcotics. An uneasy silence reigned in the early hours of October 28th when the signal about the incident reached the police services. Shortly after 01:00 AM, officers from the "Specialized Police Forces" sector of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior – Burgas, acting on information received from the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, attempted to stop a car with Burgas registration. The special operation took place in the lively area of the bus stop in the "5 km" district.
Tension was felt in the air as the police prepared for action. However, the driver did not comply with police orders. Instead, he decided to accelerate, trying to escape from the law. The lights of the police cars began to pursue the offender. The uniformed officers did not give up and followed the car through the streets. During the intense pursuit, the officers noticed something unusual. Two objects were thrown out of the right window of the car.
Subsequently, during a routine check, undertaken on the Burgas – Varna road, the officers discovered over 1 kg of narcotics. The location of the find reflected the potential seriousness of the situation. A little later, at the entrance to Burgas, about a kilometer from the place where the objects were thrown, the car was finally stopped.
Officers gathered around the car, ready to act. During the inspection, it was established that the driver was a 28-year-old man from Burgas, already known to the police for criminal activities. This further emphasized the seriousness of the situation.
After a thorough search of the area where the car was stopped and the drugs were found, the officers found a polyethylene bag. Inside, a vacuum-packed press with a white substance was found – about 200 grams of cocaine. In addition, a wrap with about 300 grams of methamphetamine was also found. Both substances tested positive on a field drug test. This confirmed the suspicions of the police.
The man has been detained for up to 24 hours. In view of the evidence gathered and the seriousness of the charges, a fast-track proceeding has been initiated in the case.
