The Chairperson of the CPC Maria Filipova raised an alarm about systematic attempts to improperly manipulate prices during the preparation for euro introduction. Experts have identified numerous cases of incorrect pricing on a national scale.
Large-scale checks in commercial establishments, including online platforms and pharmacies, revealed serious deviations in dual pricing. The identified irregularities include unlawful rounding, use of inaccurate exchange rates, and deliberate creation of differences between levs and euros.
The institution emphasizes that such actions directly violate legal provisions and harm consumer interests. After the critical date of August 8, such practices will be treated as official offenses under the Euro Introduction Law.
The CPC defines these manipulative trading techniques as extremely unacceptable, especially during such a sensitive economic transition. The institution is ready to take firm administrative measures against all attempts to improperly harm citizens.
