The parliamentary group of "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" categorically opposes the proposal to close the Anti-Corruption Commission. Co-chair Nikolay Denkov expressed sharp criticism on Bulgarian National Radio, emphasizing that such a step would have extremely negative consequences.

According to the politician, the existing anti-corruption commission needs reform, not abolishment. "Bulgaria has a serious problem with corruption at the highest levels of power," Denkov is categorical. He insists on creating an effective mechanism to counter corruption practices without serving as a tool for political repression.

A key point in the PP's position is the need for a new commission composition that would be elected with maximum political independence. Denkov warned that the potential closure of the institution carries multiple risks, including a potential budget collapse.

The financial dimensions of the problem are extremely serious. "The five billion we are talking about are not just a number – they represent a real risk to the state budget," the parliamentarian emphasized. He pointed out that existing corruption practices are associated not only with this commission but also with other institutions such as the prosecution and the Appeals Court.

A similar position is shared by BSP Vice President Kaloyan Pargov, who also warned about the risks of closing the anti-corruption commission. Denkov described Gen. Atanas Atanasov's statement that the commission is an "unnecessary and harmful body" as a personal position not coordinated with coalition partners.

The discussion outlines deep disagreements in the political spectrum regarding the future of the anti-corruption body and methods for fighting corruption in Bulgaria.
