The name of Andrey Gyurov is the main thing we are discussing, said Nikolay Denkov from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) to journalists in response to a question of whether WCC-DB has a common proposal for a presidential candidate.
Andrey Gyurov is currently the prime minister and said that time still needs to pass to decide. It is not normal for us to propose a person who has not said that he is ready to enter the process, Denkov also emphasized.
According to him, among the main tasks facing the new parliament is the adoption of a budget for 2026. "The budget should also include a package of measures related to the crisis in Iran and the increase in fuel prices and the associated higher inflation," he believes.
The second important task is the beginning of the process of cleaning up the judicial system, Denkov said and pointed out that the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) is a priority.
Asked whether WCC-DB is ready to give its support to "Progressive Bulgaria" for changes in the SJC, Denkov answered positively if the procedures are correctly defined. There must be a clear public procedure, he noted.
Someone is trying to create a drama about what our relations are with DB, Denkov commented and pointed out that they are two parties in one coalition. He pointed out that there are hypotheses in which WCC-DB does not want to be a single parliamentary group. Anything is possible, we and DB have differences, Denkov said.
We from WCC are rather a center, not a right-wing party. We want to be a national party, with representations in all larger settlements and representing the people throughout Bulgaria, which requires a different approach - the messages to the center of Sofia and those to the other settlements are quite different, he also said.
