Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov met with the heads of missions of the European Union (EU) member states. The meeting was held at the invitation of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The main topic was the preparation for the early elections on April 19. Gyurov emphasized the caretaker government's commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent vote, including “zero tolerance” for electoral violations.
Also discussed were:
- Actions to restore legality in the prosecutor's office.
- The adoption of the extended budget and work on the budget framework for 2026.
- Events in the Middle East and their impact on Bulgaria, including measures to mitigate the impact of rising global prices.
- The main topics from the agenda of the last meeting of the European Council for the Middle East and Ukraine.
- The potential risk of increased migration pressure.
Gyurov thanked for the meeting and reaffirmed Bulgaria's role as a stable partner in Europe.
Yesterday, a briefing was also held after the first meeting of the Coordination Council for the preparation of the elections, where up-to-date information on the preparation for the vote was provided.
