Burgas celebrates again! The young sailor Alexandra Lukoyanova from the Yacht Club "Chernomorets-Burgas" brought gold to Bulgaria and her hometown after triumphing at the 53rd Balkan Sailing Championship. The competition was held in Nessebar from October 16 to 19, turning the city into a center of sailing sport.

Alexandra faced over 120 competitors from six Balkan countries, showing incredible professionalism and sportsmanship. She demonstrated composure and technique worthy of admiration, and convincingly won first place in the Olympic class ILCA 6 Women.

The year 2025 is turning into a golden page in Lukoyanova's career. After a series of impressive rankings in national regattas and winning the title from the National Championship, she solidified her position as one of the leading figures in the Bulgarian Olympic class ILCA 6. Her achievements are impressive also for the competitor in the national ranking "EuroILCA", where she holds the prestigious second place. The competitor demonstrated remarkable talent at the European Championship in Marstrand, Sweden, where she placed fifth among the competitors under 23 years old (U23) – one of the strongest performances by a Bulgarian sailor in the history of this class.

A reporter on the spot reports on the tension that prevailed in Nessebar, where the young talent had to deal with the whims of the wind and waves. Each race was a real battle, but also a demonstration of mastery, which brought Lukoyanova the deserved Balkan title. It is evident that the audience was delighted with her performance.

This achievement is not only a personal triumph – it is a huge success for the Yacht Club "Chernomorets-Burgas". The club has been working for years to discover and develop talents, preparing champions who have received recognition beyond the borders of the country.

Having already conquered the Balkans, Alexandra Lukoyanova and her team are confidently looking towards new peaks, with the ambition to fight for an Olympic quota for the Games in Los Angeles '2028.

There will be participations in new international regattas, intensive preparation and more challenges – but also a great ambition: for Bulgaria to once again have its representative in the Olympic sailing classes.

After her victory in Nessebar, Alexandra Lukoyanova herself shared: "Sailing is not just a sport – it is a way of life. Every start is a challenge, but also an opportunity to conquer yourself. I am proud to represent Bulgaria and Burgas at the highest level,".

With persistence, talent and strong will, Alexandra Lukoyanova is establishing herself as one of the brightest names in contemporary Bulgarian sailing.

Her gold medal is not just a distinction, but a symbol of the revival of the Bulgarian sailing school and proof that the sea spirit of Burgas continues to inspire new champions.
