Priorities of the new economic team
Fighting inflation in essential food products and controlling fuel prices are among the main priorities of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Alexander Pulev. He emphasized that the state will act decisively against unfair trade practices.
"We are not waging a war against retail chains, but against unfair practices," Pulev stated.
The Minister outlined three key areas for action:
- Agriculture: Concrete legislative measures to limit speculation.
- Energy: Over 15 outlined measures to deal with imported inflation in fuels.
- Economy: A full revision of the activities of state-owned enterprises and agencies to eliminate "leaks".
Pulev emphasized the need to restore a sense of fairness among businesses and citizens. He also promised new financial instruments aimed at young entrepreneurs and stimulating the return of young people to Bulgaria.
For her part, the outgoing interim minister Irina Shtonova emphasized that continuity is key and presented Pulev with a report on the most urgent problems the ministry has been working on so far.
