A 28-year-old man from Sofia with a criminal record is under police investigation following a fraud involving a taxi driver in the city of Burgas. The case was reported to BurgasMedia by the Burgas Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. It all began when the perpetrator hired a taxi to be transported to a currency exchange office located in Mall Galleria.
Upon arriving at the underground parking lot of the shopping center, the 62-year-old driver stopped his car. At that moment, his client asked to borrow the sum of 47 euros, claiming he needed to cover fees at the exchange office. The man went up to the facility, returned, and then requested another 85 euros. The process was repeated several times until the total amount requested reached 387 euros. On his last attempt to obtain money, the client never returned to the driver.
Following police operations conducted by officers from the Second District Police Department in Burgas, the perpetrator was identified. He has already made a full confession to law enforcement authorities. The individual has been charged, and by prosecutor's order, he has been remanded in custody for up to 72 hours. The investigation into the case is being continued by officers from the Second District Police Department in Burgas.
