After a coma and life-saving surgery performed by medical specialists at UMBAL - Burgas, a 12-year-old child was discharged and is going home. The accident, as a result of which the boy was injured, occurred in mid-October in the village of Kosharitsa, near Nessebar, after falling from an electric scooter.
According to information provided by the hospital, the child's condition is now stable, and his recovery will continue at home.
The hospital announced that the family expressed their gratitude to the medical teams who cared for the child, and to Yordan Yordanov - a passerby who provided first aid at the scene of the accident and called an ambulance.
"We encountered professionalism and humanity everywhere," shared Svetlana Ivchenko, the boy's mother.
We remind you that the child was admitted to the hospital in a coma, with a severe traumatic brain injury. An emergency operation was required, performed by the team of Dr. Stefan Shishkov, head of the neurosurgery department.
The case is another reminder of the potential dangers of using electric scooters by children.
The medical facility in Burgas has already warned of an increasing number of cases of people injured in accidents involving electric vehicles. A few months ago, the hospital pointed out that the cases occur almost every other day, and most of the injured are men.
