A police operation uncovered a high-tech cannabis cultivation greenhouse.

On June 2, 2025, employees of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC) conducted a specialized operation in the city of Gotse Delchev, uncovering several closed premises equipped with high-tech equipment for cannabis cultivation. The action was taken to document illegal activities related to the production, distribution, and transportation of marijuana.

During the operation, two men aged 34 and 38 were detained and charged as defendants for participating in an organized crime group for the purpose of property gain. They have been charged under the Criminal Code for conspiracy to commit crimes, illegal cultivation, possession, and distribution of a narcotic substance.

During the searches, over 40 pots with plants reaching a height between 60 and 90 centimeters were seized, as well as over 13 kilograms of dry plant material from the hemp genus. The total market value of the narcotic substance is estimated at 272,000 leva. In addition, cash in various currencies, amounting to nearly 100,000 leva, mobile phones, and other equipment related to the illegal activity were found.

Measures have been taken against the detained individuals in the form of a monetary bail of 10,000 and 5,000 leva, as well as a prohibition on leaving the country.
