According to scientists from the Solar Research Laboratory at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a powerful X1.2-class solar flare was recorded around 01:00 Bulgarian time at night. This is one of the most intense solar events, indicating an active region on the Sun directed towards the Earth. Such powerful solar flares often trigger coronal mass ejections (CMEs), which can lead to geomagnetic storms capable of disrupting GPS, communications, and radio waves, particularly in polar regions.
