Young Ukrainian Woman Hit at Pedestrian Crossing in Sveti Vlas

An 18-year-old Ukrainian woman was lightly injured after being struck by a car driven by a fellow countryman while crossing at a marked pedestrian crossing.

On the evening of May 12, a traffic accident occurred in Sveti Vlas, resulting in injuries to an 18-year-old pedestrian. The incident took place around 21:47 on “Sveti Vlasiy” Street near the Antonia residential complex. A Kia Sportage with Ukrainian registration, driven by a 47-year-old Ukrainian citizen residing in Sveti Vlas, failed to yield and hit the woman as she was crossing at a designated crosswalk. The victim, also a Ukrainian national and resident of Sunny Beach, sustained superficial injuries to her cheek and left knee. She received medical assistance on the spot and was released for home treatment. The driver was tested for alcohol and registered 0.45‰ — below the legal limit, but still relevant when it comes to driving safety. Authorities have launched an investigation and continue working on the case. The incident raises once again the importance of vigilance at pedestrian crossings, especially in resort areas with heavy foot traffic.
