Tragedy on Trakiya Motorway near Yambol

A serious accident has closed the Trakiya Motorway in both directions at the 290th kilometer. The incident occurred around 1:00 PM after a heavy goods vehicle traveling towards Sofia blew a tire, crossed into the oncoming lane, and struck a passenger car.

Three people died at the scene. Two injured individuals – a 46-year-old man and a woman of unidentified identity – were transported to the Yambol General Hospital. The woman's condition is critical.

Blocked detour route

Due to the incident, a detour route was introduced via the Zimnitsa junction – Petolachkata – Karnobat – Aytos – Burgas. However, in an attempt to avoid traffic, a second tragedy occurred on the road between the villages of Klikach and Chukarka:

  • A passenger car with Sliven registration plates crashed into a roadside tree.
  • Two women died on the spot in the second incident.

Currently, Traffic Police teams are regulating the movement and redirecting traffic along roads I-6 and I-7. The scenes of the accidents have been cordoned off, and procedural investigative actions are underway.
