Hundreds of Burgas residents filled the streets of Burgas to celebrate the national holiday together. Today marks 148 years since the Liberation of Bulgaria, and the festive program began at 9 a.m. when the ninth Bulgarian auto procession was launched. It is organized by the “Mission of the Revivalists” association and Burgas Municipality and is in memory of 400 Christians killed in the town of B'lgarovo in the days around the Liberation.

The program continued at “Atanas Sirekov” square, where the national flag was raised. Representative blocks from the Burgas Garrison took part in the ceremony.

A memorial prayer was served by Burgas clergy in front of the monument to those who died in the Russo-Turkish Liberation War. Wreaths and flowers were laid by the Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov, the Regional Governor Dobromir Gyulev, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Mihail Hadjiyaev, Deputy Mayors Diana Savateva, Manol Todorov, Mihail Nenov, Members of Parliament, municipal councilors, and grateful citizens.

The festive program continued with a folklore concert by the “Atanas Manchev” ensemble and the first “Burgas procession”, which started from “Atanas Sirekov” square, passed along “Bogoridi” street, and ended in the Sea Garden. There, the participants in the procession laid flowers in front of the monuments of Vasil Levski and Hristo Botev.

In the “Toncho Rusev” hall of the Cultural Center NHK, on the national holiday, the Burgas audience will have the opportunity to watch the stage performance “Epic of the Forgotten” by Ivan Vazov. The performance starts at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free.
