Burgas is hosting the National Competition for hydrogen-powered vehicles, in which students from 14 schools in the country participate. The winners will represent Bulgaria at the World Championship in Germany.

The race for hydrogen cars is held for the second consecutive year in Burgas, at the "Nikola Stanchev" sports hall in the "Meden rudnik" district. The Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov, the regional governor Vladimir Krumov and the deputy mayor Mihail Nenov were present at the official opening.

The Horizon Grand Prix 2025 competition is organized for the fifth consecutive year by the "Technokrati" team with the support of the Municipality of Burgas. Students from 8th to 12th grade participate, who have to construct energy-efficient hydrogen cars in a 1:10 scale. The race lasts 4 hours, with the winning team being the one that has made the most laps with the same amount of hydrogen containers and battery.

The grand prize for the winning team is to represent Bulgaria at the Horizon Grand Prix World Championship, which will be held in Chemnitz, Germany, from August 20 to 27.
