Dry roads and 9 degrees at departure
Sunday in Burgas is without rain, and the roads in the city and around it stay dry from morning to evening. At 8 a.m. it is cloudy, 9 degrees, and humidity is 76 percent. The windows of cars that spent the night outside may be fogged up, so turn on the ventilation a minute before you set off.
Be careful with wet leaves on the streets. Autumn brings them down onto the sidewalks and roadways, and in the morning they are slippery even without rain.
Anyone working outdoors, on a construction site, at the market or at the port, will feel the west wind. It blows at about 13 km/h, and in gusts reaches 28 km/h, and in the open it feels stronger, for example on the road by Lake Vaya.
16 degrees at 2 p.m., about 6 hours of sun
The sun rises at 07:26. Toward noon it warms up, at 2 p.m. the thermometer shows 16 degrees, and humidity drops to 53 percent. The warmest point of the day is 17 degrees, but because of the wind it feels like 15.
The sky is cloudy for most of the day. Out of nearly 11 hours of daylight, the sun will show itself for about 6 hours in total.
In the evening the clouds break up. At 8 p.m. it is still 15 degrees, and humidity is 65 percent. The sun sets at 18:23, and the day is three minutes shorter than Saturday's. With an ultraviolet index of 3, the sun barely burns and you don't need sunscreen for a walk.
The wind from the land calms the sea
The west wind blows from the land toward the sea and does not raise waves. Along the shore they are only up to 0.2 meters, like on a lake.
The water is about 19 degrees, warmer than the air even in the warmest hours. Only walruses (winter swimmers) and people who swim regularly, even in autumn, go in. The air is clean, the air quality index is 25, rated good.
The warmest October 18 in the archive is from 1996 with 21 degrees
The archive for the same date shows big differences. In 1996 the day started at 13 degrees and reached 21, almost like the end of summer, and without a drop of rain.
In 2006 it was coldest: in the morning thermometers showed 6 degrees, and in the afternoon they did not pass 11. In 2016 the day was also dry and cool, from 8 to 13 degrees.
2021 resembles today almost one to one: from 9 to 16 degrees and dry. Last year was milder, from 14 to 18 degrees, but about 3 liters per square meter of rain fell.
The usual for this date is about 16 degrees, so today is one degree above the norm. Between the warmest and the coldest day in the archive there is a ten-degree difference, and five dates are not enough to show a direction. Warming on the Black Sea coast shows up in averages over decades, not in a single date.
Sunday for a jacket in the morning and a sweater in the afternoon
In the morning go out with a jacket; by noon a sweater will be enough. In the evening, after sunset, you will need the jacket again, especially by the sea.
For running and cycling the best time is between 12 and 4 p.m., when it is warmest and driest. In the Sea Garden the west wind is felt less, because the trees protect the alleys.
On the way back from the villa or from visiting friends, turn on your headlights before 18:30. The cloudy sky speeds up the dusk, and on country roads visibility drops quickly.
Monday up to 20 degrees
Monday is cloudy and warmer, from 13 to 20 degrees, with a west wind and almost no chance of rain.
